the end of the sky and the ocean

Sanya region of China was sometimes called Tianya Haijiao, meaning “the end of the sky and ocean”. We envisioned this resort as a place where the sky, the ocean and the mountains come together in perfect unity, blending the lines between these diverse elements to create this exclusive retreat. Throughout the buildings, the main inspiration is the movement of light rays and the interaction of the elements coming together at the “edge”. The designs draws on the colors and the forms of shore terrain and adjacent forest. The accents have a ‘found” feel, like curious objects washed ashore.
