tamar

Tamar – is an authentic Georgian restaurant in the heart of South Beach named after Tamar the Great of Georgia (თამარი). Unique concept exquisitely implemented to imbue the blend of Georgian culture, passion, tradition, cuisine and people.

The design direction for Tamar was derived after careful research of culture, traditions, and values. Elements of traditional design blend seamlessly with rustic, yet refined interior. Dramatic architectural elements like soaring arches and dynamic staircase, custom one-of-a-kind lighting, cozy banquettes draw guests to explore the entire space.

Guests of the restaurant are presented with variety of dining experiences from 2-story front dining to private banquettes and soaring bar.

Drawing on the ancient culture of winemaking, the space boasts plentiful wine display cases incorporated into dramatic architectural elements. Semi-private wine tasting room at the back of the second level provides unique experience and ambiance.

Centrally located on the second floor, owners table has splendid view of the bar to one side and spectacular 2-story lighting installation to the other while allowing for privacy and intimate atmosphere. Inspired by the tradition of Georgian “tamada” concept, owners table allows for large family-style gatherings. “At the Georgian table a tamada bridges the gap between past, present and then the future. A toast can be proposed only by a tamada and the rest are to develop the idea. Everybody tries to say something more original and emotional than the previous speaker. The whole process grows into a sort of oratory contest.”

The sophisticated material selection juxtaposes refined and luxurious elements like cobalt velvet banquettes with rough stone that reminds of mountains of Caucasus. The lighting creates dramatic effect that warm and inviting, yet highlights significant interior elements.
